CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – A Charlottesville nonprofit is rolling out a new fund to support incarcerated and released individuals.
The Charles J. Lewis III Resilience Education Fund was made in honor of the Lewis family’s late nephew. This fund is with Resilience Education, through the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation.
The money supports education for those who are incarcerated and mentoring post-release.
“For us being able to deliver that business education inside, and also to have these MBA students who are now alums, help our, our, our graduates outside, that’ll have a direct impact on their ability to get jobs, their ability to pick careers, their ability to improve their financial health,” Executive Director Resilience Education Tierney Fairchild said.
Resilience Education says they have given more than 1,000 certificates in business to incarcerated learners.
